The Gospel (Good News) of Jesus Christ

You've seen the sign JOHN 3:16, but have you read the Bible verse? It says,

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

The Bible tells us that God created Adam and Eve in perfection. No problems, no disasters, no worries!! However God did ask them not to do one thing. He asked them not to eat of a certain tree in the Garden of Eden. They could eat of any other tree they wanted, but not that certain tree. You can read this story in the Bible in the first book called Genesis in the first three chapters. Man, Adam and Eve, disobeyed God. As the picture shows, their disobedience (sin) separated them from God. Not because God was mad, but because God was holy, pure and perfect. If man would have been allowed to hang around with God, it would have killed mankind. For sin can not live in the presence of God and mankind had become sinful by being disobedient. So because God loved mankind he had to banish them from His immediate presence so they wouldn't eat from the 'tree of life' and live forever in sin.

God does love us. In fact, the Bible says He is Love. So He sent Jesus, His one and only Son to die for us. To take our place and die for our sin on a cross. Jesus was God, a part of God, One with God, yet having His own identity. When Jesus became a God/Man he was able to take our place and appease the just and holy nature of God through His sinless life, death and resurrection. So God died for us. Not because we were worthy but because He loved us.

Now all we need to do is believe that Jesus died for us. That means we know we are sinful and that we needed Jesus to take our place.

Another place in the Bible in the book of Romans chapter 10 verses 9&10 says "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." So we believe, and we confess (agree that we are sinful and rebellious) our need, to repent of our sin and ask Jesus to be Lord of our life.

If we believe and confess that belief we receive not only reconciliation to God, but eternal life. It isn't how much money you give the church, or religious organizations. It isn't how many good things your do for people versus bad. It isn't even what church you go to. And it definitely isn't about whether you are better than someone else or not. It is simply what do you believe about Jesus and His death on the cross. Do you accept what He did for you or not? God gives you a choice. Your choice shows whether you love Him back.

If you would like to ask God to forgive your sins and become a part of your life, you can do that right now. If you're not sure what to pray, or say to God you might repeat this prayer out loud to Him:

Jesus, I realize now that you died for me on the cross. I ask you to forgive me of my sins and to become a part of my life. I know I won’t be perfect, but with your help Jesus, I can live the way the Bible wants me to live. Thank you for loving me and dying on the cross for me. Amen
